Ka’Deem Carey Scouting Report

KA’DEEM CAREY – RB – ARIZONA

Ka'Deem Carey

Strengths:

Tough runner with good size. Looks much bigger than his listed size. Relishes contact and runs with good natural power. Doesn’t waste time and likes to head north-south instead of dancing around. His toughness will translate well to pass blocking. Has pretty good hands.

Weaknesses:

Not an explosive athlete. Lacks an impressive burst and his straight-line speed is poor. Runs too upright and takes way too many hits. This also robs him of his natural power. Will miss glaring holes just to run through someone and will leave yards on the field. Needs to stop trying to jump over defenders. Not used too much as a pass catcher. Still raw as a pass blocker and shows poor awareness at times. Has had previous run-ins with the law and character has been questioned.

Skills:
1-poor, 2-weak, 3-above average, 4-very good, 5-elite

Athleticism: 1.5
Power: 2.5
Vision: 2.0
Hands: 2.5
Blocking: 2.0
Intangibles: 1.5

Verdict: Hate him

Ka’Deem Carey was a very productive running back in college but I’ll be surprised if he has the same success in the NFL. His game doesn’t translate well at all. He ran a very slow 40 and it shows in games as well. He lacks the ability to make people miss but at the same time is too stiff and upright to run through defenders consistently. To top it all off he doesn’t seem to be a model citizen off the field either. He’s a guy who I wouldn’t even have on my draft board.

Grade: 7th Round-UDFA
