CALVIN PRYOR – S – LOUISVILLE
A well built safety who packs a punch as a hitter. Has made some vicious hits coming down in run support. Not afraid to play around the line of scrimmage and displays the physicality to take on blockers. Rarely misses tackles when he wraps up due to his strength. Has a good burst and can really carry a lot of speed when coming downhill. Shows well in coverage and flashes the ability to make plays on the ball when coming downhill. High effort player who always finds himself around the ball. Can play either safety position.
Tends to miss tackles around the line of scrimmage due to not breaking down. Tries to lay the big hit too often and can wind up hitting nothing. Doesn’t have a whole lot of experience in man coverage and tends to be grabby when put in those situations. A bit high in his backpedal and lacks the range to be a true center-fielder. Tends to be late to the ball on deep throws. Often relies on playing the man rather than the ball. Might have some trouble with penalties and fines in the NFL due to his playing style.
1-poor, 2-weak, 3-above average, 4-very good, 5-elite

I like what Pryor brings to the table but he doesn’t really excel in any one area. I think he can be a starter at the next level but I’m not sure he’ll ever be a high level player. He’s near the top of a poor safety class and that may inflate his value just a little bit as more and more people watch him.
