Kyle Van Noy Scouting Report

KYLE VAN NOY – LB – BYU

Kyle Van Noy

Strengths:

A well rounded player who seems to do everything well. Very high football IQ. Recognizes plays developing quickly. Always seems to find himself in the right spot. A good tackler who wraps-up and rarely misses. A disruptive pass-rusher. Uses his hands well to avoid blocks and has an excellent swim move. Patient and able to find lanes to the ball-carrier. Looks comfortable in coverage and does a good job of getting underneath developing routes. Can play outside in both the 4-3 and 3-4.

Weaknesses:

Doesn’t stand out in any particular way as an athlete. Lacks strength and it shows when he tackles and is engaged with lineman. A bit stiff as a pass-rusher and not a speed threat around the edge. An intelligent and technical player who might get overwhelmed by more athletic players in the NFL.

Skills:
1-poor, 2-weak, 3-above average, 4-very good, 5-elite

Athleticism: 2.5
Instincts: 4.0
Point of Attack: 3.0
Coverage: 2.5
Pass Rush: 3.0
Tackling: 3.5
Intangibles: 4.0

Verdict: Love him

I’m a fan of Van Noy because he’s such a smart player. He may not be a terrific athlete but he is able to make plays by simply using good technique and being in the right spot. He can be a starter from day 1 in a 4-3 and 3-4 and I think he can do it successfully.

Grade: 2nd Round
