Jeremiah Attaochu Scouting Report

JEREMIAH ATTAOCHU – LB – GEORGIA TECH

Georgia Tech's Jeremiah Attaochu (45)

Strengths:

Athletic linebacker with a lean frame and long arms. Fluid athlete. Has a great initial burst off the snap. Good speed-rush. Very disruptive pass-rusher. Consistently plays with great leverage allowing him to drive lineman back in the pocket despite his less than ideal size. Has the quickness to beat lineman with an outside-in move right off the snap. Shows great flexibility to bend around the edge. Stacks up well at the point of attack due to his leverage and ability to anchor. Has experience dropping into coverage and offers some scheme versatility.

Weaknesses:

Less than ideal size for an end so he’ll likely have to make the transition to linebacker in the pros. Is still raw in coverage and will need time to adjust. Lacks the strength and violent hands to consistently shed blocks. Struggles to free himself and make plays in the run game. Lacks polish to his pass-rush moves and will need to continue to improve these techniques.

Skills:
1-poor, 2-weak, 3-above average, 4-very good, 5-elite

Athleticism: 3.5
Instincts: 2.0
Point of Attack: 2.5
Coverage: 2.0
Pass Rush: 4.0
Tackling: 2.5
Intangibles: 2.5

Verdict: Love him

There’s not a lot of talk about Attaochu but he’s one of the best pass-rushers in this class. He is a very disruptive player even when he uses bad technique and isn’t quite sure what he’s doing. As he continues to improve I can definitely see him being a good all-around player. I envision him starting his career off much like Bruce Irvin as a strictly situational pass-rusher. Attaochu has the ability to convert to 3-4 OLB full time at the next level due to his athleticism.

Grade: 1st Round
