Keith McGill Scouting Report

Keith McGill

Very impressive size for a corner, listed at 6’3. Wiry build with long arms. Displays a nice smooth backpedal and adequate fluidity despite taller stature. Tracks the ball well and uses his long arms well to break up passes. Physical with receivers and disrupts routes very well. Can win when playing tight and physical.

Lacks deep speed and struggles to recover when beat. Not a great athlete and will get eaten up by quicker receivers unless he can be physical and re-direct their routes. Very passive run defender. Routinely gives up extra yardage in the run game. Slow to get off blocks and doesn’t play with any urgency. Gets caught peeking in the backfield too much and loses responsibility. Needs to do a better job of bringing in easy interceptions. Has been very injury prone throughout career.

1-poor, 2-weak, 3-above average, 4-very good, 5-elite

Athleticism: 2.0

Ball Skills: 3.0
Intangibles: 2.0

Verdict: Hate him

Keith McGill’s size jumps off the page and he fits the mold of a big physical cornerback much like Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner. However, he’s not a great athlete and he’ll struggle with speed in the NFL. More importantly, he displays a very poor attitude on the field and it especially shows in the run game. He simply looks disinterested in making the play and it hurts his team. He’s a project player who I don’t think will ever quite get there.

Grade: 6th Round
